Johnson Controls

Johnson Controls has expanded remarkably since Professor Warren Johnson founded the company to manufacture his invention, the electric room thermostat. Since its start in 1885, Johnson Controls has grown into a multi-billion dollar corporation, with worldwide leadership in two businesses: automotive systems and building controls.

Fundamental to this success is the Johnson Controls mission to continually exceed customers' increasing expectations. We focus on innovation and commit to continuous improvements in quality, service, productivity and time compression. We believe that if we go beyond what customers expect, customers will return again and again, asking Johnson Controls to further contribute to their success. That's why, in both of its businesses, Johnson Controls is doing more for its customers than it did just a few years ago.

Automotive Group
Automakers outsource their interior system requirements to Johnson Controls to maximize quality and reduce costs. Not only do we manufacture automotive interior systems; we design them, engineer them, integrate them and deliver them globally.

Safety, comfort and convenience are consistently among the top considerations of consumers when buying a vehicle, and all are impacted by the vehicle interior. Staying ahead of rising consumer expectations in these areas requires a strong commitment to innovation. Much of the innovation we deliver to our customers in the result of integrating electronics into the vehicle interior through systems such as our HomeLink® garage door opener, AutoVision® rear seat video entertainment system and PSI® remote tire pressure monitoring system. We use electronics to create automotive seats that cool, pulse or continuously adjust to the movements of the body.

Our original equipment and replacement automotive battery customers rely on Johnson Controls to provide batteries that lead the industry in quality, long life and cost. We also offer value-added services like category management to help our customers increase their market share.

Controls Group
Johnson Controls understands buildings better than anyone else. Our experience spans more than 115 years and tens of thousands of buildings. The owners and managers of commercial, institutional and government buildings worldwide turn to Johnson Controls to maximize comfort, productivity, safety and energy efficiency. We engineer, manufacture and install control systems that automate a building's heating, ventilating and air conditioning, as well as its lighting and fire safety equipment. Our Metasys® Facility Management System automates a building's mechanical systems for optimal comfort levels while using the least amount of energy. Metasys monitors fire sensors and building access, controls the lights, tracks equipment maintenance and helps building managers make better decisions.

Building systems at some companies are critical to achieving their corporate missions. For example, in the pharmaceutical industry the inability to maintain the proper laboratory conditions could mean the loss of years of new drug research and development. A cooling equipment failure in a bank's data center could shut down computer systems, delaying millions of dollars in transactions every minute. For these kinds of mission-critical requirements, customers turn to Johnson Controls for integrated facility management. We provide full-time, on-site staff and management to handle all of a building's operating and maintenance services. We also offer our expertise in workplace design and consulting, move management, facility benchmarking and project management.
